I especially like the idea about "if you saw an opportunity tonight."Anitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07673125042097858304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5579284890902840419.post-9618838132653097272008-01-18T13:16:00.000-06:002008-01-18T13:16:00.000-06:00Thanks for a timely post. It is unfortunate that ...Thanks for a timely post. It is unfortunate that being out of work in and of itself is a barrier to finding a job. The bigger problem is that we are all so busy that it usually takes a crisis to remind us of what we should have been doing all along: managing our careers and planning ahead.

It's the same with networking - it is always best to network when you aren't looking for a specific opportunity. That's when people won't question your motives. Once you are out of a job, that credibility is gone.

Another point to add is that everyone should have a well done, accomplishments oriented resume ready at a moment’s notice. If you saw an opportunity tonight, could you confidently apply, or would you need to spend the whole evening (or longer) working on it? Don't wait until you are looking for work to get your resume updated.

Miriam Salpeter
Keppie Careers - A Head Above the Rest
www.keppiecareers.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
