But is that really a reciprocal agreement when a childless person must put in the time in an office... answering phones, dealing with customers, answering a boss's questions, etc., while the working parent is away at a child's event? It's something that needs to be discussed, without childless workers feeling like they will be attacked for their views.Anitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07673125042097858304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5579284890902840419.post-40371193016321413502007-12-19T16:01:00.000-06:002007-12-19T16:01:00.000-06:00Great post. I have to admit that they have a point. It's somehow acceptable to leave work early for your child's play, but it's frowned upon if you want to go see a play yourself, for pure recreation.

It's not like one can say that everyone builds a family eventually and will get what's coming to them then, because that's not true. Childless workers need work/life balance too, and that must be taken into account NOW.

Alexandra Levit
Author, They Don't Teach Corporate in College
Blogger, Water Cooler Wisdom
http://alexandralevit.typepad.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
